We're going
back to Maluku.

In June 2024, 17 young men from Apeldoorn travelled with Nowruz to the Moluccas for Salam Sarane. We sat with village elders, young people, and residents to talk about Pela Gandong — the centuries-old bond of brotherhood between villages that reaches across the Muslim–Christian divide. We recorded their stories, and organised a futsal tournament that brought both communities onto the same court.

That story travelled further than we imagined: 1.5 million views on TikTok, a world premiere at Felix Meritis Amsterdam, and the opening film of the Cinema Maluku festival. It stayed with people — including Djudjaro Maluku, the dance group we're now bringing along for the sequel.

But this story doesn't end there. The people who opened their doors, their stories, and their trust to us deserve to experience Salam Sarane with us, not just watch it from a distance. So at the end of 2026, we're going back — with a film tour through several villages in Ambon, and a bigger Salam Sarane 2.0 futsal tournament, with Djudjaro Maluku performing at every event.
