At House of Nûr, which means “house of light” in Arabic, girls between the ages of 10 and 20 can find a safe space to play futsal. The project was launched in April 2025 and is continuing to grow. The girls have become a close-knit football club with their own identity and team kits.
They are guided by Nowruz and youth workers from Don Bosco Apeldoorn during training, and they occasionally go on outings to creative workshops, such as photography, as well as informal trips like a day at Walibi Holland.
Here, the girls are safe, they can enjoy sports, and who knows—maybe we are nurturing future professional football players.
Tuesday, October 21st, we celebrated the official opening of our District Spot: House of Nûr.
During this special afternoon, the girls received their self-designed SC Nowruz x Jugador kits, we played a short football match with Team Rabobank/NOC*NSF, and we wrapped up the day with a dinner at Don Bosco De Maten. The highlight of the event was a symbolic cheque presentation from Rabobank worth €35,000 – a wonderful gesture towards both the girls and the project.
House of Nûr began in April 2025 in collaboration with Don Bosco Apeldoorn.
Its mission: to build a strong and empowering movement for girls in Apeldoorn, specifically for those aged 12 to 18. We offer a safe and inspiring space where girls can grow through sports and creativity, while also building self-confidence and a sense of community.
What started with a small group of eight girls...
...has now grown into a vibrant community where 15 to 20 girls gather weekly. Football is at the heart of the program – a space where fun, development, and teamwork come together.
In addition, the girls are participating in creative programs, such as the recently launched photography workshop led by Dani Schaufeli. We also organize outings and gatherings to strengthen their group identity and deepen the bonds between them.
House of Nûr is made possible by the Municipality of Apeldoorn, NOC*NSF, and the cooperative Rabobank.
