Our Story.
A movement that began in 2021, long before there was a football club. Documentaries, academies, and social projects — in more than a dozen countries.

A football club second.
Nowruz started in March 2021 as a handful of friends who wanted to travel, document, and tell the stories the news rarely reaches. In a time of increasing division, the aim was simple: connect people from different backgrounds through creativity and sport.
SC Nowruz followed in April 2023, as one expression of that same community — an indoor football club in Apeldoorn, competing in the KNVB futsal leagues, that is about far more than winning games. Today, Stichting Nowruz and SC Nowruz share one mission: building bridges.
Nowruz literally means new day — the beginning of spring, the realization of dreams.
The meaning behind our nameWe travel to places that rarely make the headlines — from Bosnia to Togo, from Colombia to the Moluccas — to listen, create, and tell stories that deserve to be heard.
Founded in April 2023 as one expression of the same community. An indoor football club in Apeldoorn, competing in the KNVB futsal leagues — home to players of every background.
The moments
we work for.
Whether it's a young woman finding her place on the pitch, a group of young people from Apeldoorn experiencing a community on the other side of the world, or an audience in Amsterdam watching a film about the Moluccas for the very first time — these are the moments we work for. Nowruz was born from a simple belief: that people, regardless of where they come from, have more in common than what divides them.
