About the project
Our MDT project focuses on engaging young asylum seekers through a combination of sports and creativity. We offer weekly futsal training sessions alongside creative workshops to build confidence, teamwork, and self-expression. The program is designed for youth aged 12 to 30 living in AZCs. Participants are guided by experienced youth workers and role models from their own community. Our goal is to empower these young people and help them discover their talents and potential.

What we do
Core activity
Weekly futsal training
Every week, young people from the asylum seekers centre come together on the futsal pitch. Not just to play — but to connect, to compete, to build something with each other. Football as a language that everyone speaks.
Alongside sport
Creative workshops
Next to the sport, we run creative workshops where participants can express themselves through film, photography, and storytelling. Skills that last a lifetime — wherever they go next.
Guidance
Role models from their own community
Participants are guided by experienced youth workers and role models who understand their background. Nowruz was built by people with roots across the world — we know what it means to find your place.
Goal
Talents discovered, potential unlocked
Every participant has something. Our job is to help them find it. Whether that is speed on the pitch, a voice in front of a camera, or the courage to dream bigger — MDT Nowruz creates the space for it.

The Yezidi project — a creative programme in the Netherlands
The Yezidi project was a creative programme in the Netherlands that brought together young Yezidis living here. Through creativity, storytelling, and community, we gave them a platform to share their culture, their identity, and their voice. Just like MDT, it started from the same belief: every person deserves a space to be heard and seen.
