In September and October 2023, we spent 10 days in Togo, Benin, and Ghana. In Togo, we visited Stichting De Thuishaven, where we made a documentary about De Thuishaven and followed the founder, Reza Nelembaye Ngarigota, in his story.
What Reza does for the children in Togoville is indescribable. He makes a huge impact with De Thuishaven, best expressed through non-verbal gestures like big smiles, many hugs, and immense gratitude. The expressions of dozens of children have stayed with us forever once we returned to the Netherlands.
Stichting De Thuishaven — Reza Nelembaye Ngarigota
Stichting De Thuishaven was founded by Reza Nelembaye Ngarigota in Togoville, Togo. What Reza does for the children there is indescribable. With limited resources and immense dedication, he creates a safe haven where children can grow, learn, and feel at home.
SC Nowruz traveled to Togoville specifically to document his work and share his story with the world. On day one, we played a football match against the boys of De Thuishaven — wearing our specially designed Nowruz × Togo uniforms by Jugador Teamwear, sponsored by Darna Care. The boys in Togoville will now play their tournaments and matches in these uniforms. On day two, we received a full tour of Togoville and distributed Nowruz × Togo shirts to the children and the organisation.
