House of Nur
House of Nur
meaning house of nur
The name House of Nur carries a deep and symbolic meaning. "Nur" is an Arabic word that translates to "light", representing enlightenment, knowledge, and growth. It symbolizes the empowerment of young girls, offering them a space where they can develop, shine, and take control of their future. House of Nur is more than just a place; it is a community that fosters confidence, creativity, and leadership.
This meaning aligns closely with SC Nowruz, which derives its name from "Nowruz" (Persian: نوروز), meaning "New Day"—the celebration of renewal, transformation, and fresh beginnings. While SC Nowruz focuses on empowering youth through sports and creativity, House of Nur extends this vision specifically to young girls, providing them with the light (Nur) to illuminate their own paths.
Together, SC Nowruz and House of Nur represent renewal, opportunity, and empowerment, creating a strong foundation where young people, especially girls, can thrive, inspire, and become future leaders in their communities.
about house of nur
House of Nur is a District Spot initiative aimed at empowering young girls in Apeldoorn through sports, creativity, and personal development. This project, led by SC Nowruz in collaboration with Don Bosco Apeldoorn and the Municipality of Apeldoorn, creates a safe and inspiring environment where girls can grow, connect, and take ownership of their futures.
House of Nur provides structured weekly sports activities, including futsal, self-defense, and basketball, alongside monthly creative workshops such as photography, videography, and fashion design. In addition, leadership sessions allow participants to develop confidence, social skills, and ambition under the guidance of female role models.
The project aims to lower barriers for girls to participate in sports and creative fields, ensuring inclusivity and representation. By fostering a strong, independent community, House of Nur aspires to create future female role models who will, in turn, inspire and guide the next generation.
This initiative is financially supported by Rabobank, with additional backing from NOC*NSF and local organizations. Through House of Nur, we aim to make a lasting social impact, encouraging young women to take control of their personal growth and actively contribute to their communities.
